A little of this, a little of that

This morning I spent time doing a little baking…

a second batch of Double Chocolate Zucchini Bread and more Homemade Granola to have in the pantry (this time with pepitas and cashews).

Later in the afternoon we decided to do a little local shopping…

we headed over to Wine Authorities for their Saturday free wine tasting. Today’s tasting featured oak vs. no-oak. We decided to purchase a white no-oak chardonnay from Portugal 2008 Vinho Branco, Reserva (Herdade do Esporão) with cantaloupe, tangerine, peach flavor notes.

We also picked up a newly stock food item: roasted garlic and rosemary artisan flatbread crackers from The Accidental Baker in Hillsborough, NC. We’ve got a nice goat cheese and brie to enjoy these with.

These t-shirts have been hard to resist and we finally caved today and picked two up for ourselves. They say, “Durham: Crunchy on the outside, warm & delicious on the inside”. I loved the “clothing facts” that were on the label too.

We then headed across the street to the The Q Shack for a late lunch, we each got the Smoked Pulled BBQ Chicken Plate with hushpuppies. I got mac & cheese and baked beans as sides, while Andy went for the potato salad and onion rings.

We’re playing it low key tonight at the house, we just had a small batch of scattered showers, fingers crossed that we’ll get a bit more.
